Jordan’s Mission Director Jim Barnhart has reflected on Jordan’s successes in a farewell video ahead of his departure from the Kingdom after five years in his post.

“Jordan has grown in so many ways. We’ve seen the private sector expanding. We’ve seen exports expanding to the US and the world. We’ve watched the city of Amman triple in size.

“We’ve watched the Aqaba parts and all the southern parts of the country growing and expanding and becoming a more vibrant place to live,” he said in the video published on the US Embassy’s official Facebook page.

Barnhart spoke about the deep relationship he and his wife have built with the country since their first visit in 1986.

“I am confident in Jordan’s future. Just in the last few weeks, for instance, we have watched the government of Jordan organise itself and the Jordanian community to respond to the COVID-19 crisis,” he said.

Barnhart has been appointed as the Assistant to the Administrator in USAID’s Bureau for Resilience and Food Security and Deputy Coordinator for Development for Feed the Future.
